United Methodist Men
Men's Sunday: February 12, 2012
A Day to Honor Men of the Past, Present, and Future
& Boy Scout Sunday
Men's Sunday at Damascus UMC falls near President's Day this year, and we will honor men of the past, present, and future in music, liturgy, prayer, and the spoken word. Rick Barr and Brad Turner-Little will share in a conversational sermon that begins with faith and science and highlights the heritage of prayer, faith, and action shared by male role models. Rick Barr is presently in Wesley Seminary studying for deacon’s orders and Brad Turner-Little is a graduate of seminary, working for Goodwill and our present Lay Leader.
It is also Evolution Sunday when we acknowledge the symbiosis of science and spiritual insight, reflected in the sermon for the day.
Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing, a special anthem, will be shared by a Men’s Choir at both services. All men are invited to attend rehearsal on Wednesday, February 8, at 7 pm to prepare for singing in worship.
The Puppets, Inc. Interactive will share a message about truth and coming clean with God.
All current and past Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and leaders are invited to wear their uniforms to church to be recognized and share in a special act of dedication.
