Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
The wonderful Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be on February 21st from 5pm to 6:30pm in the Dining Hall. This is a fundraiser for our Youth Fellowship. The cost for dinner is $6.00 per person. Reservations for dinner are greatly appreciated! Please call the church office (301) 253-0022 to make your dinner reservations.
Ash Wednesday, The Day of Ashes and Repentance, is February 22, 2012
Please plan to attend one of our meaningful services:
6:15 a.m. Service of Ashes & Holy Communion, Damascus Sanctuary (A breakfast follows in the Dining Room)
Noon Service of Ashes & Holy Communion, Damascus Sanctuary
7:00 p.m. Service of the Word & Ashes, Damascus Sanctuary.
Our new worship chairperson, Jan Jaremko, will deliver the homily. In addition, the Chancel Choir will sing, and there will be the dispensation of ashes.
The Wonderful Wednesday night dinner will precede the service at 5:45 p.m. in the Dining Hall. Child care will be provided for the 50-minute service in the Sanctuary. Children and youth, especially confirmands, are encouraged to join with their families for a special beginning to our Lenten season.
Fireside Chats are on Wednesdays during Lent at 6:45 p.m. in the Great Hall, starting on February 29th
For over sixteen years we have had the great tradition of sharing the personal faith stories of our parish during the season of Lent. Again this year we are featuring our Fireside Chats in the Great Hall on Wednesdays from 6:45 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Both Pastor Walt Edmonds and Pastor Linda Motter will alternate with interviewing these folks following the Wonderful Wednesday night dinners (the dinners beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the Dining Hall). Child care will be provided for these “parlor chats.”
Wednesday Morning Holy Communion
There is no better way to begin the day than with the sacrament of Holy Communion. We found that out about fifteen years ago when the youth began meeting on Wednesday mornings at 6:15 a.m. for a short service followed by breakfast.
This year we will begin on Ash Wednesday (February 22, 2012) and will continue throughout Lent. Because of the earlier hour of Damascus High School’s morning schedule, we want to remind those attending that we will be leaving for DHS at 7:10 a.m. promptly. Parents and other interested adults are welcome at this early hour.
