Sharing Life Together

We celebrate everyone’s unique journey as a follower of Christ. We believe that life-changing growth happens when communities work together towards the common purpose of becoming more like Christ through their study, caring for others, and serving others. Through Study Groups, Small Groups, lifestage groups and support ministries, we believe that we can come together to develop devoted followers of Jesus Christ that can make a difference in our world. If you’d like to learn more or if you need help connecting with a group, reach out to us… we’re here for you!

Help is Here: Finding Fresh Strength and Purpose in the Power of the Holy Spirit

By Max Lucado.

We’ll be discussion chapter the Sunday 4 after Christmas.

From Amazon.com: Bills pile up. Savings accounts go down. Marriages go south. Pandemics rage. Work goes off the rails. Stress goes off the charts. Suddenly, you feel powerless to calm life's chaos. It's all too much to take on by yourself. But pastor and bestselling author Max Lucado has great news for you--Help Is Here.

Now more than ever, we're all weary from the loads we carry and the challenges we face. We have questions we cannot answer and problems we cannot solve. We'd hoped that life would be an invigorating adventure or an inspiring journey. We never expected to grow so tired so quickly. But Max teaches us that we can find fresh strength and purpose in the power of the Holy Spirit.

For more information, please contact Cathy Heinbaugh (cheinbaugh@comcast.net), Jeff Heinbaugh (heinbjc@comcast.net), or Don Hecht (don.hecht@avendra.com) We’re trying to get a head count so we know what space to reserve at church.  Also, let us know if you will join us in person or virtually.   Looking forward to seeing you!

OMG Adult Sunday School Group
Sundays / Dining Hall / 10:15am
This group always has an intriguing book identified which we read and discuss in class. Truth be told, sometimes we are overcome by events and do not actually get to the book. Maybe something from the homily hits home and we just want to dig in a bit more. Or maybe some joy or hardship is shared, and we need to spend the time in support and prayer. We'll dive into some amazing books, and have inspired wonderful dialogue together! In January we will be reading exerpts from "Focus," a collection of one-word reflections (recommended by Don Hecht), until we decide on our next book.

The Leslie Class
Sundays / Library / 10:15am
The Leslie class meets in the Library in the basement under the sanctuary. The January, 2024, the Leslie Class will be reading Following Jesus: Finding Our Way Home in an Age of Anxiety by Henri Nouwen. Join us for lively conversation and fellowship!

From Amazon.com: At one of the lowest points in Henri Nouwen’s life, he gave a series of lectures on the importance of following Jesus in an age of anxiety. Drawn from those talks, this new work reveals what sustained Nouwen to remain faithful to the teachings of Jesus and led him to become an icon of compassion and vulnerability. Here he writes eloquently about calling and purpose, fear and hope. And he explains why—with so many choices available to the twenty-first-century seeker—the greatest reward for those looking for spiritual direction is rediscovering Jesus’s teaching on love. Along the way, Nouwen offers warm, insightful, practical habits to help readers navigate the narrow, sometimes arduous, but ultimately fulfilling road of conviction and faith.

Lovefeast Sunday Class
Sundays/ Stage Side of the Great Hall / 10:15am
The Love Feast class meets in the Great Hall near the stage, just down from the Sanctuary. Love Feast class has people of all ages engaged in the interpretation of Scripture and theological discussion that is serious and humorous. Everyone is welcome. We are currently reading What If Jesus Was Serious? by Skye Jethani.

From Amazon.com: Jethani explores the importance of the kingdom of heaven in Jesus's ministry, message, and parables. In doing so, he redefines the popular understanding of heaven as a celestial home for the dearly departed and reimagines our role in God's kingdom here on earth. This book shows what Jesus and his first followers knew about heaven that we get wrong and helps us recapture what it means for God's kingdom to be present on earth right now.
